The Cukrovarnická Library is one of the two libraries of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
In accordance with the Institute's research plan, the library is designed to house a special library collection. The collection is thematically profiled according to the FZU research, especially in the field of solid-state physics. Our collection is replenished according to the needs of the FZU researchers.
Our library provides a wide range of library services and activities, including acquisition of new literature, cataloguing and management of the library collection. The library provides consultation and lending services for our users. Articles not available at the FZU can be supplied to library users through the Interlibrary Loan Service and the International Interlibrary Loan Service.
The Cukrovarnická Library catalogue is a part of the Union Catalogue of ASCR Institute Libraries and the Union Catalogue of the Czech Republic.
The library processes data on research results (publications, patents, etc.) for all employees of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The library staff record the data in the ASEP (Automated research result recording system) database and subsequently submit them to RIV (Information Register of R&D results), the information system for research, development and innovation of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic.
The Cukrovarnická Library has received grant support from the Ministry of Culture in the call titled VISK 9/I Development of the Union Catalogue of the Czech Republic (CASLIN). The library staff create bibliographic records of articles from selected titles of scientific journals in the field of natural sciences, including the Czechoslovak Journal of Physics.
The FZU libraries are members of the national association of The Czech Republic Libraries Association (SDRUK).
Apart from making literature available through purchase and Interlibrary Loan Service we also provide poster printing and document copying, laminating and binding.
