Post-doc positions for researchers within 10 years from Ph.D. degree (maternity/paternity leave excluded). The successful candidate (m/f) will become a part of an internationally recognized research team led by Dr. Jiri Hlinka. He/she will actively contribute by application for beamtime, adapting the experimental set up and performing experiments with vortex light and stimulated Raman scattering experiments in local and external installations within an international project targeting novel strategies for light interaction with topological defects in ferroic materials.

What will you do

  • Prepare documentation for planned experiments and beamline proposal.
  • Propose and realize minor modifications and aligmentme of the optical setup.
  • Propose and perform spectroscopic experiments alone and with the team.
  • Analyze experimental results, manage the data and edit experimental reports.
  • Collaborate with the experimental and theoretical sides of the project team.
  • Prepare presentations and scientific publications.

What we expect

  • PhD in physics, optics, physical chemistry, material science or mineralogy
  • Demonstrated hands on experience with design and use of a femtosecond laser set up
  • Knowledge of optical spectroscopy
  • Publication record with at least 10 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Basic programming skills (Fortran/C/C++/Python)
  • Communication skills, ability to work in a team
  • Advanced English, written and spoken
